Blind & Deaf Schools Projects!
WAF's plans to assist blind & deaf schools in the West African region continues! We are working with the Cape Coast School for the Blind & Deaf and the Sao Tome School for the Blind & Deaf. But, we are looking to expand the number of other schools in the region. We have been processing cases and cases of braille books we acquired with the assistance of our good friend Naomi (of Naomi & The Courteous Rudeboys) as well as the braille books we have been buying up. The place is like a shipping and receiving warehouse which is both a mess and a great blessing. (See the two new pictures we added....) We have also been buying up and shipping books on tape & CD.
For the deaf students we have been shipping a variety of books...everything from classics, text books, philosophy, poetry, science and art books.
In addition to that we have sent a variety of materials for the classroom, the teachers and even materials that parents of blind & deaf students may choose to access.
We have been asked for assistance with special sports equipment for the students and we have been working on a plan to seek funding for basketball & soccer equipment. We estimate that with about $1,000 we can provide basic equipment to both schools.
Stay tuned for more info and details!!

1st "Sounds of Change" CD Project
World Action Foundation is currently working on the 1st "Sounds of Change" CD project!
The first CD produced for sale to raise funds for projects is planned to be released in early 2009 and will feature West African Reggae from some of the finest artists from the region.
Currently we have tracks submitted from Roots Rebels & Ras Tonto with more tracks promised by WalaAboloo, Osagyefo and Amajang Jallow. We are currently talking with Shasha Marley and Paapa Wastik about joining on to the project as well!
We plan to sell the CD in a variety retail locations, on-line, through print ads and at festivals.
If you are a West African reggae band and would like to donate a track or two and be included on the project we believe we have at least one spot left open! It is a great chance to help raise money for charity and at the same time reach a huge audience and promote yourself in the US and beyond!! - Get in touch if you are interested!
If you love reggae keep watching for the release of this great CD!!

School For The Blind - Sao Tome & Principe (W. Africa)
WAF has just started a new relationship with another school for the blind in Sao Tome & Principe. (An Island nation off the coast of West Africa.) The school teaches both children and adults and has some serious needs that we hope to help them with. We will now start evaluating the needs they have that we can address!
We have a few new photos from the school in our pics! Check them out....
If you feel you can help us with any supplies, machines, braille materials, etc. for the blind please get in touch.

1st Shipment To The School For The Deaf & Blind!
WAF is excited to announce that the 1st shipment to the Cape Coast (Ghana) school for the blind & deaf is about to be shipped!
We have purchased piles of volumes of braille books and books on tape & CD. We strove to provide a good variety of everything from history, business, short stories, current magazines, etc. in braille. Recorded material such as Martin Luther King, Jr's speeches and biography, the Dali Lama's lectures, Biblical recordings, business & "self-help" titles and MANY other topics. We also have a variety of classical & jazz music titles. In addition we have a few CD & cassette players for the library we will be sending along.
For the deaf students we have collected some classic literary works, reference books, scientific material, classroom materials, etc.
It is our hope that these additions will help to build the library at the school and enrich the educational experience for the youth in an area that often lacks the basic material let alone the addition of a wide range of subject matter. We want to continue our support in any way we can to this school and expand to other school for the blind & deaf beyond.
For this we can use all the help we can get so...if you have any CD players...Cassette Players....Books on Tape or CD....Braille materials....good reference books....or other equipment you may want to donate please get in touch! We can also...of course....always use cash donations to continue our work and buy materials needed.
So, please get in touch if you can help....
Also, please remember....WAF is a 501(c)C charitable organization so all donations are tax deductable up to fair market value!!
